PGA golf professionals Shawn Edwards (Hubbard GC) and Zach Johnson teamed up to win their second, consecutive Utah Section PGA Fourball Championship. They defeated the first year team of Adam Johnson (Meadowbrook GC) and Barry Schenk (GolfTec Salt Lake) 4 & 3 in the final match.
The final match was played at Willow Creek Country Club and was a birdie-fest featuring 11 birdies in the 15 holes. Team Johnson/Schenk started well birdieing the first hole and taking a one-up lead, but Edwards and Johnson fired back with 4 straight birdies at 2, 3, 4, and 5. In the end Adam Johnson and Schenk’s 4 birdies couldn’t keep pace with the 7 birdies logged by team Edwards and Zach Johnson over the 15 hole match.
Both teams were impressive not only in their “finals play” but also in the number of great teams they defeated on their way to the finals.
