Jeff Green owner/golf professional at Stansbury Park GC won his first Utah Section PGA Senior Match Play Championship today. There was a couple interesting facts regarding Green’s victory in this season-long match play event. Green defeated his longtime friend and Stansbury’s new head golf professional Tom Costello in the final match. Not being able to avoid a home-course advantage the match was played at Willow Creek CC where Green defeated Costello 4 & 3. The two friends have always been great competitors over the years as noted by runner-up Tom Costello’s observation; “I was 2 holes up through hole #12 and then started thinking about the ramifications of beating my boss”. This observation was delivered “deadpanned but with a wink”.
