102 players teed it up Tuesday making this one of the largest fields ever for the Section Championship. High winds tested the Utah Section Golf Professionals and didn’t allow too many low scores in the First Round. There were, however, still plenty of great shots and a few good solid scores. For example Henry White played the wind just right as he holed out for an eagle, 2 on the ninth hole!
Two new Class A members played well in their Section Championship debuts, Joe Summerhays and Tommy Sharp. Summerhays leads with a -2 70 and Sharp will join him in the final pairing shooting a -1 71. Also trailing by 1 shot are Mike Borich, Dave DeSantis, and Mark Boggs. Stu Nelson leads the Senior Division by shooting -2 70, and Ron Branca has a 2 stroke lead in the Super Senior Division shooting 73.
