The First Tee Utah Has a New Leader

The Utah Section PGA and Golf the Round welcomes Paul Pugmire as the new Executive Director for The First Tee of Utah. The First Tee is noted nationally for its great interactive youth golf and learning programs. Most recognized are their “Golf in Schools” programs and their “Nine Core Values.”

The First Tee Utah is not only a partner and allied association promoting positive junior golf activities but are also our neighbors here at Golf the Round. The PGA of America along with the USGA are big supporters of The First Tee. So we give a grand welcome to both The First Tee Utah and its new Executive Director Paul Pugmire.

Paul comes to the position with a broad background in sports development, non-profit leadership and public service. Paul led the team responsible for keeping and growing Major League Baseball Spring Training in Arizona and was co-founder of the Grand Canyon State Games. He has served on numerous nonprofit boards and commissions at the local, state and national levels and was the President of the South Jordan Chamber of Commerce. He has worked for a Congressman, a Governor, state legislature leadership and has served on a City Council. He has owned and operated a corporate events management company and a marketing and public relations firm.

Paul played on the golf teams at Dixie State College and at Boise State University. While at Boise State he worked in the pro shop at Hillcrest Country Club with Arnold Haneke and assisted Mr. Haneke in teaching the junior golf program. Paul and his wife Brooke live in South Jordan with the two youngest of their six children.
