Round 1 matches began Monday afternoon immediately following the VLCM Pro-Am and Match Play Seeding. Several matches came down to the wire but none more intense than the 13 seed Matt Baird vs 20 seed Jared Barnes. Baird and Barnes extended their match to 22 holes where Baird lost one left opening the door for Barnes to finish off the match. Both players had their chances to close it out in the extra holes. Other notable matches are 31 seed Luke Martin beat 2 seed Tommy Sharp and 2012 Match Play Champion Pete Stone beat Jon DeBoer.
