Last weekend the 24th Southworth Senior PGA Professional National Championship was contested at Creighton Farms and River Creek Club in Virginia. Congratulations to those who qualified and played representing the Utah Section of the PGA: Kim Thompson, Mike Borich, Stu Nelson, Dave DeSantis, and Jimmy Blair!
Blair proved to be the Utah Section’s best performer by not only making the cut after 36-holes but finishing tied for 12th place. By finishing in the top 30, Blair has earned himself a qualifying spot in the 2013 Senior PGA Championship presented by KitchenAid, at Bellerive Country Club in St. Louis, Mo.
This end-of-the season grind actually boosted Blair past current Senior Player of the Year points leader, Mike Borich, to win the Senior Player of the Year Title by merely 62.5 points. Good work Jimmy!
The PGA Assistant Professional National Championship will be played the first weekend of November, and no eligible Assistants will be able to dethrone Zach Johnson who has accumulated an ample lead for Assistant Player of the Year. Chris Moody has the Player of the Year Title wrapped up as well.
