2012 Boys High School State Championships!

Champions are crowned as the Utah Section PGA and the Utah High School Activities Association wrapped up an exciting week of Boys High School Golf State Championships!. Four State Championships were contested this first week of October, 2A-5A, and the conditions could not have been better. Four great venues tested the skills and nerves of some of the states best prep golfers, thank you to Rose Park GC, Riverbend GC, Roosevelt GC, and Logan CC. The State Championship tournament is a a 36-hole event where the best four scores of the 6-player team are combined for a team total.

2A

Monday-Tuesday, Rose Park Golf Course in Salt Lake City hosted 2A where Beaver High School defended their Championship winning by 37 strokes and making it 3 straight years winning the 2A title! The Individual Medalist from Roland Hall, Caleb Chodosh beat defeding 2A Medalist Niklaus Britt by 1 stroke shooting 70-73 for a two-day total of 143.

3A

Wednesday-Thursday, 3A competed at the Roosevelt Golf Course in Roosevelt and Park City High School took home their 5th straight Championship shooting a team total of 603. Park City’s Justin Shluker matched his first-round 73 for a two-day total of 146 to win the individual title by a single stroke for the second straight year.

4A

Wednesday-Thursday, Logan Golf & Country Club in Logan opened its majestic fairways and greens to the 4A division. In only its 4th year of existence Maple Mountain High School won the 4A Boys Golf State Championship and is the first ever State Championship in any sport! Bonneville earned runner up at 5 shots back. Timpview’s C.J. Lee won the Individual Medalist shooting 68-74-142.

5A

Monday-Tuesday, Riverbend Golf Course in Riverton welcomed the 5A schools where Brighton High School beat Lone Peak in a sudden death playoff for the 5A Boys High School Golf State Championship! Austin Banz of West High earned the Individual win shooting 67-70-137.
