Wendover, NV – 97 Players teed it up to compete for the $45,000 purse in the Section Championship and the top 4 will qualify to play in the National PNC Tournament. Casey Fowles takes a 1 shot lead over Dave DeSantis after the First Round of the 2012 Utah Section PGA Championship. Fowles leads a strong field by shooting 67, DeSantis sits at one stroke back with a 68 and four players are at 2 shots back shooting 69: Todd Meyer, Brent Moyes, Ryan Rhees, and Matt Baird. Defending Section Champion Dustin Volk fired a 71 and is tied at 11th place.
Tony McQuivey leads the Senior Division with a First Round score of 68, and at only 2 shots back Stu Nelson is currently in 2nd place. In the Super Senior Division Ron Branca leads after posting 69. Brett Black, in his first appearance in this event after recently earning his Class A PGA membership, holed out for an Eagle on hole #9. Final Round starts Wednesday, September 19th at 9:00 AM with the lead group teeing off at 11:00 AM.
