Wendover – The Utah Section PGA Championship held at challenging Toana Vista Golf Course came down to a playoff to determine the winner. Mark Owen and Kury Reynolds took their two day totals of 139 to the 1st hole to playoff for the title. Owen won the hole with a par and is named the 2012 Utah Section PGA Champion. Along with winning the Championship and $5,000.00, Owen earned a spot in the 46th PGA Professional National Championship to be contested June 23-26, 2013, at Sunriver Resort in Sunriver, Oregon. Casey Fowles, Dave DeSantis, and Eric Nielsen also qualified to play in the National PNC.
Over one-hundred Golf Pro’s made the excursion to Wendover to participate in the 2012 Utah PGA Fall Meetings and Section Championship and after a long and hectic summer the two hour journey west was the perfect retreat. The great participation and camaraderie in this event is undoubtedly due to the outstanding support and hosting by the Wendover Resorts and Casinos. The Utah Section PGA and the Wendover Resorts and Casinos has had a tremendous partnership for the past 10 years!
Dave DeSantis held off Stu Nelson and Tony McQuivey to win the Senior Section Championship by posting a -2, 142. Kean Ridd beat the Defending Super-Senior Champion, Bob Rudd, in a playoff by ramming in two straigt birdies to earn himself the Super-Senior Section Championship.
