Gladstan PGA Golf Professional Tracy Zobell led his team to a victory at the inaugural National Car Rental Pro-Am Championship at Hidden Valley CC, Sandy Utah today. Zobell and amateur golfers Cliff Brimhall, Bruce Gordon, Curtis Olsen, and Ross Bowers scored a “plus 17 points” in the Chicago Format point system. Team Gladstan’s +17 points over quota gave them a 3 point victory over assistant Professional Cameron Thomas and his team from Logan River GC (+14). Zobell’s team score of +17 point total may seem easy when merely viewing the scoreboard, but it was more like a pleasant but difficult test of all their golf skills.
Hidden Valley CC was in great condition and the weather was almost perfect except for some afternoon wind gusts; but playing all 27 of HV’s holes consecutively under competitive conditions was a challenge for all of the teams. The greens were running fast and they had to defeat a full field of 39 other teams. Zobell’s -4 under par individual score (104) was good enough to tie for first place Pro-Sweeps honors and help carry his team to victory. Derek Fox, Rolling Green CC golf professional and Hidden Valley member tied Zobell for 1st place in Pro-Sweeps. Host professional Ryan Kartchner and Willow Creek CC Teaching Professional Kim Thompson tied for 3rd place, Pro-Sweeps shooting -3 under par (105). Kyle Melling was the Amateur Sweeps point winner scoring a +14 Chicago points over his quota.
