Chris Moody of Riverside County Club has defended his title as the Utah Section PGA Match Play Champion! His back-to-back Championship victories marks the first time in a decade since anyone has won this event in consecutive years. Current Utah PGA Vice President, Chris Stover was the last player to accomplish this feat back in 2003 and 2004.
After fighting through several great players and many tight matches the Championship Match belonged to the #1 and #2 seeds. Chris Moody was given the top seed as the defending champion and Casey Fowles earned the #2 seed by shooting a 65, the low score in the qualifying round.
The Championship match between Moody and Fowles was a bit of a see-saw contest. Moody was 3 up after 10 holes and then Fowles made Birdie-Birdie on #11 and #12 to tighten the match and close the margin to only 1 up. Moody charged back winning 2 more holes and clinched a 3 & 2 victory on the 16th.
We would like to thank V.LC.M for making this event exceptional as well as Tony Angelico and the staff at Hubbard Golf Course. The course is in championship form!
