On Monday June 25th the Bountiful Ridge Golf course in Bountiful, Utah was in great shape. Both the hot temperatures and wind had moderated from the previous several days adding to a great atmosphere for the 2012 Highland Golf Classic. The only missing ingredient was some great golf scores. This final ingredient was provided in an impressive manner by the Bountiful Ridge Team “A” and other local golf course teams. This great play proved once again that the best cooking is still “home cooking”!
The Bountiful Ridge “A” Team shot a score of 111 using a Las Vegas Scramble Format: a scrambled tee-shot, and then a one low gross and one low net score for each hole. Bountiful Ridge Professional Kent McComb teamed-up with Bountiful City Mayor Joe Johnson; City Engineer Paul Rowland; and City Councilman Fred Moss to shoot a winning 31 under par score. Not far behind at 115 were the Nibley Park Team of Jeremy Green; Bill Echternkamp; Jeff Schneider; and John Southern.

Highland Golf Equipment Company along with national support from Yamaha Golf Car Company has sponsored this fun team formatted classic for over fifteen years. The Utah Section PGA bill the event as the annual Pro-Officials event. Four person teams are made-up of a PGA Golf Professional and three other facility administrators such as the course superintendent, mayor, council member, or club official. It’s a great opportunity to play golf and have fun as an administrative team. Actually it’s fun to play golf for any reason!
