Duensing and Blair Capture the 2012 Utah PGA Junior Qualifying Title

Salt Lake City, UT Charlie Duensing of Sandy, UT and Sirene Blair of South Jordan, UT battled the 4 club winds on round two to win the 2012 Utah Junior PGA Championship presented by Under Armour and Heritage Food Service Group  Tuesday, June 26, 2012 at Soldier Hollow in Midway, UT.

             
By winning the boys’ and girls’ divisions respectively, Duensing and Blair qualified for the 37th  Junior PGA Championship, Presented by Under Armour and Heritage Food Service Group, July 31- Aug. 3, 2012, at Sycamore Hills Golf Club in Fort Wayne, Ind. Duensing (16) posted a 71-72 for a two-day total of  143 and a four-stroke victory over Colton Dallimore and Mana Angilau who tied for second with a two day total of 147. Blair (17) also posted a 71-72  for a two-day total of 143 and a six-stroke victory over Lea Garner of Ogden, UT.
 
The Junior PGA Championship, Presented by Under Armour and Heritage Food Service Group, is open to one boy and one girl champion from each of the 41 PGA Sections, winners of the eight PGA Junior Series events and a few other national junior tournaments conducted throughout the year and special invitees who have yet not reached their 19th birthdays and who have not started college.


The Junior PGA Championship, Presented by Under Armour and Heritage Food Service Group, has traditionally been a stepping-stone for many of today’s PGA and LPGA Tour professionals as well as current collegiate stars. Past Junior PGA Championship competitors who have gone on to successful professional careers include: Stewart Cink, In-Bee Park,  Jim Furyk, Trevor Immelman, Cristie Kerr, Anthony Kim, Dottie Pepper, Justin Leonard, Michelle McGann, Phil Mickelson, Sean O’Hair, Grace Park, Scott Verplank, David Toms, Michelle Wie and Tiger Woods.
