Albatross at Sanpete County Open!

Author: Chris Stover, Utah Section PGA Secretary

This years’ Sunday at the Masters South Africa’s Louis Oosthuizen made an albatross… a remarkable “2” on a par 5.  The result of this most rare shot was good enough to get Mr. Oosthuizen into a playoff but eventually he lost to Bubba Watson on the first playoff hole.
This years’ Sanpete County Open played on Saturday, May 19th at Palisade State Park Golf Course located in Sterling, Utah featured its own albatross. Tyler Weight of Springville, Utah made a “2” on the par 5 13th hole on his way to a 66 and a tie in the Championship flight with the reining Utah Amatuer Champion Jeff Evans of Cedar City.  Spanish Oaks Head Golf Professional Ryan Rhees won the event with a 65 edging out Kury Reynolds from Wolf Creek Golf Course in Eden, Utah who also shot 66.  Congratulations to the 2012 Sanpete County Open Champion Ryan Rhees and thanks to all who played.
