Who is that good-looking PGA Professional featured on the back cover of your November issue of the PGA Magazine? None other than Utah’s own Ken Weyand, Director of Golf at Glenwild Golf Club and Spa in Park City, Utah.
Just like all PGA Members Ken “wears many hats” in his position at Glenwild, which is one of Utah’s premier golf facilities. However he has really excelled in the areas of merchandising and member services. He has reached heights in these areas that few PGA Professionals around the country achieve. Ken is a Utah Section PGA Merchandizer of the Year for 2009 and was a National PGA Merchandizer of the Year finalist in 2010.
Managing the operations at a nationally recognized club isn’t an easy assignment but Ken Weyand is more than equal to the challenge. Special member concerts on the green; a very special mix of quality fashion items and quality golf equipment in the golf shop; and unparalleled service to his nationwide member base are just a few of the “best practice promotions” that Ken uses to stay on top of the member services game. His mix of special events and member amenities more than compliment the beautiful scenery of Utah’s Park City area.
Having Ken Weyand on the back over of the PGA Magazine makes Utah professionals proud but take a look at who is on the front cover! It’s none other than Utah native Mike Malaska. As 2011 national PGA Teacher of the Year Mike is pictured on the front cover and also in the cover article about emphasizing the “short game” at your facilities.
Although Malaska is a PGA Member of the Southwest Section he was born and raised a Utahn. Mike began his professional career in Utah and is a former Utah Open Champion. Mike has never forgotten his Utah roots. He has returned to Utah often to give special teaching clinics to our Utah Section Members and to play in the Utah Open.
Be sure to take a look at the PGA Magazine and drop Ken and Mike a note of congratulation. It’s always fun to see “a couple of our own” recognized for their accomplishments!
