The Utah Section PGA, experts in the game and business of golf in Utah, is proud to conclude another successful season with the releasing of the 2018 Utah Section PGA Awards. Utah PGA Executive Director Devin Dehlin shared the following message, “We have 350 Members and Associates in our Section that are making a difference in the game of golf on a daily basis. This year we had more nominees than ever before with so many deserving Professionals. We are very proud of this year’s winners and the overall group of Professionals in Utah.”

The difference between making an All-State team or not often comes down to 1 stroke or even less throughout the season.

The Utah Section PGA would like to welcome our newest Board Members. Jeff John from Logan River Golf Course has been elected as your new Secretary. He will be serving an 8 year term as he works his way through the officer positions.

There are not many in Utah golf that have had a year like Davis Park Assistant Professional Zach Johnson just experienced. To name a few accomplishments: Omega Utah Section Player of the Year, winner of the Utah Section PGA Professional Championship and playing in the 2018 PGA Championship.

Sunset View Golf Course Head Professional Casey Fowles’ game clicked at the right moment with a victory at the 2018 America First Davis Park Open on September 6th at Davis Park Golf Course.

The PGA Jr. League Championship presented by National Car Rental will remain at picturesque Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona, through 2022. Grayhawk Golf Club has hosted the Championship since 2016, with the 2018 event scheduled for Nov. 16-19.

The 2016 Senior PGA Professional Champion Steve Schneiter has gained some momentum heading into 2018’s Championship in October by claiming a win at this year’s Utah PGA Senior Section Championship hosted by Promontory Club’s Painted Valley Course August 29-30 in Park City, Utah.

After four Local Drive, Chip & Putt Qualifiers held at courses throughout Utah, 16 available qualifying spots were up for grabs at the 2018 Sub-Regional Qualifier at Promontory Club on August 25th in Park City, Utah. Local Utah juniors took advantage of home turf and secured 10 of the 16 spots to advance to the Regional Qualifier held at Chambers Bay in University Place, Washington.
