Author: by Scott Whittaker

Rose Park Golf Course was a very busy golf course on Saturday, June 1. They hosted the season “tee-off event”, the Chevron Parent-Junior, for the very popular Utah PGA Parent Junior Series. Over 50 teams of parents and children teed off in a shotgun start in the Chevron Parent Junior Tournament. The popularity of this event and for the entire Parent-Junior Series has increased each of the last three years.

The partnership of Salt Lake City Golf, Chevron Oil Company, and the Utah Section PGA have grown this event into a must play event for local families. Salt Lake City Golf hosts the even at its popular Rose Park GC/Jordan River golf complex. Chevron provides lunch and prizes for the participants. The PGA provides the awards and administers the program and event. Everyone else has fun playing.

Team Brereton won the top prize in the Boys 13-15 age category by shooting a scramble score of 31. Not far behind was Team Wilson shooting a team score of 32.  The Girls age 16-18 category was led by Team Schmidt who shot a team score of 35.  Even those that didn’t win prizes and glory still had a great time. Sally sweet-swing noted “who would have thought I could have such a great time playing golf with my dad”. There were even a few Baby Boomers (grandparents) in the Gen-X and Gen-Y mix, adding to the fun.
