Park City, Promontory Club– Matt Baird leads by 2 after the first day at the National Car Rental Utah Section PGA Assistant Championship Presented by COBRA PUMA GOLF. Baird and Joe Summerhays are the only players to break par in Round 1, Baird 69 and Summerhays 71.
The Jack Nicklaus design course is in supreme condition and is not only a test of length but also touch around the treacherous greens. Baird showed off his skills as he eagled both hole # 6 and #12. Defending Champion and five-time winner of the Assistant Championship, Chris Moody, shot 75 and sits 6 stokes off the lead. The Assistants play the Final Round on the challenging Painted Valley course Wednesday September 12.
