Although the temperature was extremely cold in St. George, that didn’t stop Jimmy Blair and Neil Economy from heating up and filling the scorecard with a lot of birdies! Blair and Economy came from behind the second day at Entrada to win the 2011 TaylorMade/Adidas Pro-Assistants Championship by two shots. With temperatures dipping into the low twenty’s on Tuesday morning, we were delayed over an hour due to ice on the greens. The cold temperatures were very difficult, but Blair and Economy fired a 63 to win by two shots. Neil was excited with the win and rather impressed with his partner. Jimmy made nine birdies in very difficult conditions. Brad Stone and a couple of his partners were right at the top as always. The Davis Park teams featuring Brad and Pete Stone tied with Brad Stone and Zach Johnson for second. Host Professional at Entrada David Hall and his partner Andrew Hopkins-Payne were also in the group at 130 tied for second. The team from Entrada held a one shot lead after day one at Bloomington, but couldn’t match the birdie barrage from Blair and Economy. Gary Schneiter and Mike Borich tied Craig Sarlo and Scott Erling for the Adidas division Championship.
The cold weather didn’t keep the Golf Professionals away; our participation was up again this year. We had 88 players head south to enjoy a couple rounds with their co-workers. This event seems to always be a favorite for Section members and Apprentices. We would like to thank Phil Deimling, Jeff Smith and all those with TaylorMade/Adidas for their amazing support. PhilDeimling the 2011 Utah PGA Salesman of the Year continues to upgrade this tournament every year. The night at Iggy’s is a favorite amongst the players, Thanks Phil!
We would also like to thank Scott Brandt and David Hall for their hospitality at their facilities. Two great venues, a little sunshine and no wind made the 2011 Taylor Made/Adidas Pro-Assistants Championship a great success.
Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year to all!
