The Utah Section PGA has announced they will host local qualifiers for the national Drive, Chip and Putt Championship to be held Sunday at Augusta National Golf Club prior to the 2015 Masters Tournament.
The Golf Channel televised the first ever Drive, Chip and Putt Championship prior to this year’s Masters. The event was a perfect event to usher in Masters Week.
At each local qualifier each participant competes by hitting three drives, three chips and three putts. Participants accumulate points for each skill competition; the participant with the highest point total is then declared the overall champion for his/her age category.
Participants must be at least seven years of age as of April 5, 2015 and may not be older than 15 years old by that same date. Each participant will be grouped based on their age of the championship final on Sunday, April 5, 2015.
Scott Whittaker, executive director of the Utah Section PGA said, “We are thrilled to bring this quality of competition to the junior golfers of Utah. This is an exciting opportunity to showcase the quality of junior golfers we have in Utah and I am proud of our Utah Section membership for stepping up to host our Local, Sub-Regional and Regional Qualifiers.”
Utah’s qualifiers will be held at the following locations and dates:
Friday, June 13th at Southgate Golf Course, St. George, Utah
Friday, June 20th at Golf the Round, Salt Lake City, Utah
Friday, June 27th at Rose Park Golf Course, Salt Lake City, Utah
Friday, July 11th at Eagle Mountain Golf Course, Brigham City, Utah
Each local qualifier will send on the top three point earners in each age division to the sub-regional qualifying August 8th at South Mountain Golf Course. The top-two in each of the boys and girls divisions from the four age brackets will then advance to the Regional Qualifier at Promontory Golf Club in Park City, UT on Saturday, September 6th. The overall champion in each division/age categories will advance to the championship finals to be held the Sunday before the Masters in 2015.
