Hidden Valley Country Club in Sandy, Utah drew back its gates on Monday for the Utah Section PGA opening spring events! Host Professional and Utah PGA Secretary Ryan Kartchner welcomed a record number of professionals to the 2014 Spring Pro-Pro & Four-Ball Championship Seeding!
The Spring Pro-Pro is actually a tournament within a tournament. Utah Section players not only vie for Pro-Pro money but also seeding positions for the season long Four-Ball Championship.
Partners Dustin Volk and Pete Stone started out the season on fire. They topped the field by shooting nine under par (63)! Only one shot back was the team of Mark Owen and the recently crowned Glenmoor Open champion Chris Moody (64). The Golf Lab team of Corey Badger and Tommy Sharp finished third at six under par (66). All indications are that the Utah Section PGA Four-Ball Championship will provide an entire season of competitive matches.
This spring kick-off event is supported by two longtime Section Sponsors, Charley Carlson from Jenkins/Carlson Golf Accessories and Terry Outzen from Titleist. Charley represents several golf product companies to the Section. They include a number of great brand name products like Sun Mountain; Bushnell Range Finders; Antigua Fashion Sportswear; Clear Vision Golf Cart Covers and many more golf accessories. “Chipper Charley” is the longtime Presenting Sponsor for the Four-Ball Championship and presented each player with a great tee gift and closest-to-the-hole prizes.
Terry Outzen of Titleist has been a longtime supporter of Utah Section tournament golf. His company Titleist historically has been a major sponsor of our Section Championship, but Terry has always filled in with sponsor support as needed. This year’s Four-Ball Championship will culminate in the largest purse this event has ever seen thanks to the support of both Charley and Terry! We thank both of these great sponsors.
